The standard monthly fee at the fitness center I belong to is $36. My monthly cost is $32.74. I don't get a special rate because of my age, my income, or my general all-around niceness. I'm not related to the owner. I'm not blackmailing her into a discount because I have a photo of her secretly stuffing herself with chocolate chip cookies. I simply pay my membership fee by the year instead of the month.
